Sulfur Blocks Explode and Geysers Arrive with Minecraft 26.2 Snapshot 5

Just when you think your work is done with Mojang's Chaos Cubed update, a major innovation comes with Minecraft 26.2 Snapshot 5. This update highlights the chaotic side by adding a new explosive archetype to the Sulfur Cubes. Additionally, there are some randomly exploding geysers within Minecraft; this makes the biome feel more natural and impressive. You can find every new feature in Minecraft 26.2 Snapshot 5 here.

Minecraft Comes with Sulfur Cubes Explosive Archetype and Exploding Geysers

The biggest feature of Minecraft 26.2 Snapshot 5 is a completely new explosive Sulfur Cube archetype. This adds a dangerous twist to the mob in the upcoming Chaos Cubed update. If a Sulfur Cube absorbs a TNT block that has fallen to the ground (or if you give it one), it turns into an extremely volatile walking hazard.

Now the mob can explode when the TNT block inside is ignited by fire, Flint and Steel, Redstone triggers, or nearby explosions. Here’s how the explosive Sulfur Cube mechanism works:

• Fire or Redstone triggers start a 6-second fuse before the block explodes.
• Other nearby explosions randomly trigger a 0.75-3 second fuse before exploding.
• Once ignited, the Sulfur Cube becomes immune to damage, and the TNT block inside cannot be collected with Minecraft shears.

Environmentally, Strong Sulfur blocks can now interact with water and create Geysers if there are magma blocks underneath. These geysers randomly explode, shooting water particles upwards and launching entities into the air. This is a great feature for building traps, mechanisms, or just having fun with your friends.

Beyond this, the mob's hitbox has been slightly adjusted. Hoglins are now classified as enemies and therefore no longer spawn in Peaceful mode. New sound effects have been added for Geysers and Sulfur Spikes.

You need a Sulfur Cube, which can take on the explosive archetype when it absorbs a TNT block. This can be triggered by a Redstone signal, fire, or a nearby explosion.

When a Strong Sulfur block is placed on top of a Magma block or under 1-4 water source blocks in a Sulfur Pool, it can produce a geyser that explodes at random intervals.
