Ubisoft's "worst-kept secret" is finally coming to light. After months of leaks and intense speculation, Assassin’s Creed Black Flag Resynced is preparing to hit the road. This full-scale remake of the beloved AC series is expected to bring significant changes to the game's story and gameplay. Here’s what we know about the release date, gameplay innovations, and new content coming to Edward's journey.
Assassin’s Creed Black Flag Release Date and Platforms
Assassin’s Creed Black Flag Resynced is expected to be released on July 9, 2026. After months of speculation and delays, Ubisoft has finally confirmed that the game's first official presentation will take place on April 23, 2026, at 18:00 CEST.

The remake of Assassin’s Creed Black Flag is expected to be released on PlayStation 5, Xbox Series X/S, and PC platforms. Currently, Ubisoft has not made any statements regarding a Nintendo Switch 2 port for Assassin’s Creed Black Flag Resynced. However, fans hope that the game will also be released for Switch 2 in the future.
Assassin’s Creed Black Flag Resynced Gameplay Innovations
Assassin’s Creed Black Flag Resynced is not just a simple remaster with higher resolution. On the contrary, it is a completely rebuilt game using Ubisoft's Anvil Pipeline engine. This will allow Ubisoft to bring the Caribbean to life with modern realism.

The most significant technical breakthrough will be the removal of the annoying loading screens during transitions from ship to shore. Players will now be able to dock at a port or board an enemy ship without the distracting effect of loading screens.
Technical Specifications
Ubisoft aims for native 4K resolution at 60 FPS on current-gen consoles. This means players can expect significant improvements in water physics, volumetric fog, and tropical storms appearing more threatening.
While some rumors suggest an RPG transition similar to Odyssey, it seems that Assassin’s Creed Black Flag Resynced will stay true to its action-stealth roots. The game will offer a narrative-focused experience like the original Assassin’s Creed games. However, the combat system has been redesigned to have a smoother and faster pace, along with additional visual cues for enemy attacks and a new dual-sided HUD.
New Story Characters and Elements
The most exciting news for experienced players is that Ubisoft will not retell the same story in Assassin’s Creed Black Flag Resynced. Instead, it will include new characters and expanded narrative structures. Resynced features additional story elements that delve deeper into Edward Kenway's transition from a selfish pirate to a true Assassin.

Additionally, to focus on a fully story-driven adventure, Ubisoft is reportedly considering excluding the original game's multiplayer mode and Freedom Cry DLC. While the absence of playing as Adewale in the mission to rescue slaves will be felt, players will still be able to see this character in the main game of the Assassin’s Creed Black Flag remake.
Reveal Showcase Twitch Drops
Ubisoft has collaborated with streamers for the official reveal of Assassin’s Creed Black Flag Resynced. The reveal will be streamed on April 23, 2026, at 18:00 CEST on Twitch. Similar to games like Fortnite, participating players will have the chance to earn the Rufino Pistol skin by watching the stream for 20 minutes. The pistol skin will be available when the game is fully released.

With less than 3 months left until the remake's release date, it's clear that players are eagerly awaiting the chance to take on the role of Edward Kenway and embark on adventures once again on the high seas.
