The Fortnite 40.30 update is here, and although it is a smaller patch compared to the previous update, it brings a lot of exciting new content to the game. Fortnite 40.30 Update Downtime Information
The downtime for the Fortnite 40.30 update began on April 30, 2026, at 04:00 ET. Like previous updates, this also put Fortnite into a scheduled downtime, which lasted for 3 hours. Additionally, matchmaking and other services were disabled 30 minutes before the downtime began. However, the servers are now active again.

Cube Splitter SMG
The Elites are heavily engaged in battle with the Dark Voyager, and a new weapon from their arsenal, the Cube Splitter SMG, makes its debut with the Fortnite 40.30 Update. This will be one of the most unique SMGs the game has seen, as it will allow players to launch small Cube fragments that stick to enemies and explode after a short time. Considering the loot pool of Fortnite Chapter 7 Season 2, this new SMG will definitely create chaos.
Reshaped Infinity Blade
The Ice King's trusty weapon makes a return with the Fortnite 40.30 update: the Reshaped Infinity Blade. This new but familiar weapon has been reconfigured from the OG Infinity Blade from Chapter 1 and has been balanced much better for Chapter 7 Season 2. Players will be able to run with the Infinity Blade this time and deal significant damage when they manage to get close to their enemies.
This weapon is currently locked behind the Fortnite Showdown Rivalries achievements and will unlock as a Rift Anomaly when the Ice King Team surpasses the required threshold.
Star Wars Clone Wars Costumes
As the May 4th celebrations approach, Epic Games dives deep into the Star Wars Prequel Era and introduces Fortnite Clone Wars costumes. The new Star Wars costumes will include Anakin Skywalker and Ahsoka Tano with their iconic Clone Wars looks and animations. This collaboration will also be supported by other Clone Wars-themed cosmetics like Fortnite Kicks, backpacks, and pickaxes when it launches in the Store on May 1, 2026, at 20:00 ET.
Map Changes: New Elite Marker
With recent developments in the Fortnite Reloaded mode and the Dark Voyager, the story is starting to heat up as the Elites engage in battle with the mysterious villain. To reflect this, Epic has added a new Elite marker to the Chapter 7 Season 2 map. There is currently a rift above the marker, which seems to be connected to the rift in the Reloaded mode. This could be linked to the next Fortnite live event that will take place at the end of the season.
Fortnite Blitz Oathbound Update
Fortnite Blitz is also being updated with v40.30, as Oathbound items from Chapter 4 are returning to the Blitz loot pool. This includes the Ex-Caliber Rifle, which launches explosive projections, and the Shockwave Hammer, one of the best mobility items in Fortnite history.
Custom Match Options
With the Fortnite 40.30 update, Epic has finally added the option for content creators to customize private matches. This new update will allow creators to change the time of day, pause the storm, health, shields, and much more during a private match.
Animated Partners Pack
Following Peter Griffin's huge success in Chapter 5 Season 1, Epic Games has added the Lois Griffin costume to the files with the 40.30 update. Unlike Peter's muscular physique, Lois will maintain classic animation proportions and will come with some funny cosmetics from Family Guy. This includes boxing gloves from the iconic "Baby, You’re Gonna Break Me" episode.
The Animated Fathers update in 2025 was just the beginning. The Fortnite 40.30 update also adds Linda Belcher, the heart of the Belcher family, to the game files. The character will be a complete reflection of her design from the show and will come with her own hamburger-themed backpack and Fortnite Kicks. Finally, the King of the Hill collaboration is also getting a second wave, with Peggy Hill making her entrance with her unique confidence in the Fortnite files.
New Weekly Quests
The Fortnite 40.30 update also adds new weekly quests for players to complete. These quests will allow players to unlock Fortnite Chapter 7 Season 2 Battle Pass rewards faster while also providing hints related to the ongoing story.
